Iran beats Australia for 2nd straight win in Kabaddi World Cup

The Iranian men’s national kabaddi team has scored a resounding win over Australia in the 6th edition of the Kabaddi World Cup in India to maintain its unblemished record in the international tournament.

On Sunday, the Iranian sportsmen, who had started off their campaign at the event with an emphatic 65-23 victory over the Tanzanian squad, defeated their Australian counterparts 57-32 in their second Group B fixture staged at the Attari village of Amritsar district in the northern Indian state of Punjab.

The Iranian national kabaddi team is scheduled to play against Argentina it its third match on Monday.

The 6th edition of the Kabaddi World Cup started in the Indian state of Punjab on November 3, and will wrap up on November 17, 2016.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has been drawn in Group B along with Argentina, Australia, Kenya, Tanzania and the United States.

Britain, Canada, the hosts India, Sri Leone, Sri Lanka and Sweden are pitted against each other in Group A.

The Iranian team comprises of Alireza Safari, Behnam Javidi, Mostafa Sadeqzadeh, Payman Eskandaria, Hamid Ziraki, Amir Dehqan, Maysam Ghanbari, Behnam Khabbazi, Mohammad Moqaddasi, Saeed Jahandar, Mojtaba Shadkam, Shayan Naddafi, Nasser Sahraei and Payman Cheraqi.
