Iran’s Shahid Hasheminejad Wrestling Cup to host four foreign teams

The Islamic Republic of Iran Wrestling Federation (IRIWF) says the northern Iranian city of Behshahr is going to host the 15th edition of Shahid Hasheminejad Freestyle Wrestling Cup in early March.

The IRIWF stated on Tuesday that it has already sent out formal invitations to wrestling federations in the Dagestan Republic of Russia's North Caucasus region, Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan, asking them to dispatch their respective delegations to the upcoming tournament.

The Iranian wrestling federation further noted that a number of domestic wrestling clubs will participate in the sporting event a well.

The 15th edition of Shahid Hasheminejad Freestyle Wrestling Cup will kick off on March 1, 2018, and will finish the next day.

The 14th edition of Shahid Hasheminejad Freestyle Wrestling Cup opened on February 9, and wrapped up on February 10, 2017.

Behshahr outfit scooped the top honor in the team division of the tournament, having racked up 71 points.

It was followed by representatives from Tehran side in the second spot. Wrestlers from Dagestan Republic claimed the third place.
