Iranian midfielder Hajisafi linked with move to Greece’s Panionios club
Iranian footballer Ehsan Hajisafi has reportedly been linked with a move to the Greek association football club Panionios Gymnastikos Syllogos Smyrnis, commonly known as Panionios GSS FC, in the Superleague Greece.
According to reports published in Greek media outlets, the 27-year-old Iranian, who plays as a midfielder for Foolad Mobarakeh Sepahan Sport Club in the professional Persian Gulf Pro League as well as Iran men's national football team, is going to continue his soccer career in Europe.
He started his career with Zob Ahan Isfahan Football Club, which is sponsored by the Isfahan Steel Company in 2000, before joining Sepahan six years later.
In June 2011, Hajisafi signed a one-and-a-half-year loan conscription contract with Tractor Sazi Tabriz Football Club, reuniting him with former coach Amir Ghalenoei. His contract with Tractor Sazi ended in January 2012, and he returned to Sepahan.
He won the Hazfi Cup with the team and extended his contract with Sepahan for another two seasons at the end of the season.
On August 30, 2015, Hajisafi joined FSV Frankfurt in the 2. Bundesliga, which is the second division of professional football in Germany, with a two-year contract. He made his debut as a second-half substitute against Eintracht Braunschweig on September 13, 2015.
Hajisafi was called into Iran's 2014 FIFA World Cup squad by Portuguese head coach Carlos Queiroz on June 1, 2014.
He played the full 90 minutes in Iran's first match against Nigeria, which ended in a nil-all draw.
Hajisafi was one of the key players in the next match against Argentina. He substituted in the 88th minute, and Argentine professional footballer scored the lone goal for his side.
He also played 63 minutes in Iran's final match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
