Iran’s Sina Sanat Izeh crowned at World Wrestling Clubs Cup
Iranian wrestling club Sina Sanat Izeh has been crowned the champion of the third edition of the Greco-Roman Club World Cup in Hungary.
On Friday evening, the Iranian team finished in the first place at the end of the two-day competitions in the Hungarian capital city of Budapest, overpowering Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyesi SK of Turkey 5-3 in the title showdown.
Abdol Mohammad Papi registered striking performances in the 59-kilogram, and claimed the gold medal of the weight division. He overwhelmed Mustafa Saglam 6-1 in his last encounter and stood atop the podium.
In the 66-kilogram weight category, Ali Arsalan prevailed over Atakan Yuksel 6-3 in the final bout and received the gold.
Mohammadali Geraei, Iran’s representative in the 71-kilogram class, also overcame Can Selcuk 4-1 in the last contest, and was awarded the gold medal.
Pejman Posthtam, however, suffered a 2-0 defeat against Kus Emrah in the final bout of the 75-kilogram weight class, and got the silver medal.
Moreover, Maksim Manukyan and Davoud Abedinzadeh Chadorchi snatched gold medals in the 80-kilogram and 85-kilogram weight categories, respectively.
Ali Akbar Heidari and Zviadi Pataridze also managed to collect two silver medals for Sina Sanat Izeh in the 98-kilogram and 130-kilogram sections.
Additionally, Iranian wrestling club Bimeh Razi defeated the host nation’s BS Plastic team 6-2, and celebrated its third place finish.
The third edition of the Greco-Roman Club World Cup opened in Budapest, Hungary, on December 8, 2016 and finished the following day.
The tournament attracted Greco-Roman wrestling clubs from Armenia, Belarus, Hungary, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United States.
