Iran’s Bimeh Razi vice champion at World Wrestling Clubs Cup 2016

Iranian wrestling club Bimeh Razi has been defeated by the Titan Mercury of the United States at the 2016 Freestyle World Wrestling Clubs Cup in Ukraine, and finished as the runner-up in the respected international event.

The title defending Iranian outfit sustained a narrow 3-4 defeat at the hands of the San Marino-based team in the final encounter, and settled for silver at the conclusion of the bouts in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkov on Thursday.

Setaregan freestyle wrestling club also represented the Islamic Republic of Iran in the tournament. The team landed in the sixth place overall.

The 2016 Freestyle World Wrestling Clubs Cup opened in Kharkov, Ukraine, on November 30, and wrapped up on December 1.

The competitions attracted 12 clubs from various world countries, including Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Hungary, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Turkey and the United States.

The top three teams received $25,000, $15,000, $10,000 cash prizes respectively in addition to medals and diplomas.

World Wrestling Clubs Cup is an international wrestling clubs competition among teams representing member nations of the United World Wrestling (UWW). The Islamic Republic of Iran Wrestling Federation proposed the tournament in 2014.
