Former German striker Jurgen Klinsmann has been relieved of his duties as the head coach of the United States men's national football team.
The 52-year-old’s dismissal comes after the US were beaten by Mexico and Costa Rica in their latest World Cup qualifiers. Klinsmann has coached the US since 2011 when he replaced Bob Bradley and had been under contract through the 2018 World Cup.
He guided the United States to the last 16 at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Bruce Arena, a five-time Major League Soccer (MLS) champion coach, is considered to be a prime candidate to replace the German.
