Gaza genocide

More deaths and destruction are reported in Gaza as the Israeli regime keeps pounding civilian structures across the besieged strip with air and artillery strikes. In the latest attacks, several Palestinians were killed and injured in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza. Bombings also continued in the southernmost city of Rafah, resulting in the death of a number of people. The northern regions of the strip were not spared either as the regime’s artillery and warplanes bombed the Jabalia refugee camp. According to Gaza’s health ministry, 31 Palestinians were killed across the strip in just 24 hours. The death toll from over seven months of US-Israeli genocidal war on Gaza now exceeds 35,300. The actual figure, however, is believed to be much higher as thousands of bodies remain under the rubble.

Call for Israel FIFA suspension

The Palestinian Football Association has called for the immediate suspension of Israel from FIFA, football's world governing body, over the regime’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip. Rajoub issued the statement during the meeting of FIFA’s governing body in Bangkok, Thailand. The head of the Israeli regime’s football association, however, called the Palestinian proposal a cynical attempt to harm Israeli football. That’s as the FIFA president said the body would seek an independent legal opinion on Palestine’s request. The Asian Football Confederation on Thursday gave its backing to the proposal by Palestine for immediate and appropriate sanctions against Israeli teams. Football associations of several countries have also thrown their weight behind the request to suspend Israel from FIFA.

Israel-Lebanon tension

Tensions remain high along Lebanon’s southern border. That’s where Israeli forces and the resistance movement, Hezbollah, have been exchanging fire on an almost daily basis since October 7. In the latest attacks, Hezbollah targeted Israeli bases in northern occupied Palestinian territories and the occupied Golan Heights. Israel, meanwhile, has been attacking Lebanon’s southern region.
