Croatia have earned a 2-nil victory over Iceland, in a World Cup qualifier thanks to a brace from Marcelo Brozovic at the Maksimir Stadium.

The match was played behind closed doors in Zagreb, due to a crowd-ban handed down to Croatia after their fans’ racist rants in Euro 2016 qualifying. The hosts took the lead in the 15th minute through Brozovic’s left-footed strike from 20 meters.

Iceland missed a couple of chances to equalize, including one on the hour mark, before Brozovic secured the win for Croatia at the start of stoppage time with another fine effort from outside the penalty box. The win kept the hosts at the top of group I, with 10 points from 4 games.
