Riyadh, next target of Yemeni missile attacks: Activist

An activist and political commentator says Riyadh is going to be the next target of Yemeni army forces' retaliatory missile attacks.

“It seems that Ansarullah, the Houthi side by side with the Yemeni army have hidden many of these rockets and they are getting deeper inside Saudi Arabia and I imagine that the next target could reach Riyadh and it could reach as well United Arab Emirates,” Hussein al-Bukhaiti told Press TV.

This came after the Yemeni army announced on Monday it has launched a ballistic missile attack on a military base in the western Saudi city of Ta'if.

The activist also stated the missile attacks on Saudi territories indicate Riyadh regime’s “failure” in Yemen war. He also mentioned the Houthi Ansarullah fighters are “really patient” and that they are taking their steps slowly just to give Saudi Arabia a chance to stop its war against Yemen.

Elsewhere in his remark, Bukhaiti said the United States seeks to get directly involved in Yemen war under the pretext of protecting the international shipping line.

The comments came after the US military said one of its guided-missile destroyers has escaped an attempted attack off Yemen’s shore.

“What the United States as well has announced about their destroyer that came under attack, I think it is just a big lie because we have noticed after the attack on the United Arab Emirates ships in Yemen, the Saudi media and Saudi propaganda as well as the US media are talking now about international shipping lines and they said that they are under threat and I think this is one of the excuses,” he stated.

“They [the Americans] want to take pressure from Saudi and I think the coming war will be headed by the United States and I believe that the United States will land force to attack Yemen especially from the south and they would form a new coalition to attack Yemeni people,” he added.

The activist went on to say this is an attempt by the United States to support Saudi Arabia’s military aggression on Yemen and to split the country into two parts.

He also argued the Yemeni army must take up the fight in order to prevent this plan from being implemented.

Yemen has been under Saudi military strikes since late March 2015. Around 10000 people have been killed in the war.
