Press TV has interviewed Sabah Jawad, director of the Iraqi Democrats Against Occupation from London, to discuss the recent remarks by Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: First of all, give me your thoughts please on the recent comments made by Iraq’s Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari regarding the important and significant role that the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Units are playing in the fight against Daesh terrorists.

Jawad: The Mobilization Forces in Iraq have been fighting terrorism for such a long time and every battle they entered into against terrorism, they won that battle. And there is an attempt by the United States, namely four countries, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey to undermine the work of the Mobilization Forces in Iraq because they have another plan for Iraq; a plan where the Americans could send fresh troops to Iraq despite their pronouncement [that] they are not sending fighting forces to Iraq. Now we see an American division has been sent to Iraq and the truth of the matter is that these countries are plotting against the Mobilization Force(s) which have proven very effectively as a tool of fighting terrorism as well.

What they wanted in return actually; they wanted the Americans to be in control of the liberated areas particularly in Salahuddin province and Anbar province as well as Mosul when it is liberated from ISIS as well. The Americans want the upper hand in that part of Iraq to draw the political map and to appoint their stooges to rule these areas and practically partition Iraq as well. They are allowing the Kurdish division to expand its territory as well.

I mean you know there is a huge outcry in Iraq now against the statement by the new Saudi ambassador in Iraq. A lot of people are calling on the government actually to kick him out because not only they are you know plotting against Iraq, [but also] they [are] supporting terrorism, financing terrorism, arming terrorism, politicizing terrorism. And also they provide the terrorists actually with their ideological tools. All these so-called Muslims scholars are justifying terrorism not only in Iraq, but in Syria, Lebanon and so on. And they are all supported by these countries by the way. They are fooling no one when they say they are part of the alliance to fight terrorism. They created terrorism and they want to destroy countries in the Middle East, but our people will fight them until the end and in the end victory will be ours.
