Saudi security guard violently attacks senior citizen: Video

Frame grabs from a viral video shows a Saudi senior citizen being violently attacked by a security guard in the city of Dammam in eastern Saudi Arabia.

Video footage has gone viral, showing a Saudi security guard violently attacking a senior citizen in a city in eastern Saudi Arabia.

The footage shows the guard apparently in an argument with the man at the top of stairs at the entrance of a National Commercial Bank branch in the city of Dammam, the capital of the kingdom’s Eastern Province.

Without facing any physical provocation from the man, the guard is then seen suddenly pushing him off the entrance with heavy physical force. The push causes the man to almost fatally hit the sharp edge of the entrance and smash his head on the pavement at the bottom of the stairs.

Saudis have, meanwhile, created a Twitter hashtag to better inform the public about the incident.

The incident came amid already-heightened tensions across Eastern Province over Riyadh’s execution last Saturday of prominent Saudi cleric, Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.

Security forces have been put on high alert across the kingdom in the wake of the execution, which has prompted international condemnation, including from the United Nations and various human rights organizations.

Early Tuesday, armored vehicles arrived in the province’s al-Awamiyah town. The forces who arrived then started firing indiscriminately at residential buildings, shops, and cars.
