Members of the Daesh terrorist group have reportedly executed nearly a dozen civilians in Iraq’s northern province of Kirkuk.

A local source, speaking anonymously, said Daesh members killed 10 people in the Zab district, located 95 kilometers (59 miles) west of the provincial capital, Kirkuk, on Monday after accusing them of attempting to escape the areas under their control, and not joining the ranks of the militant outfit, Iraq’s Arabic-language al-Sumaria satellite TV network reported.

The source added that Daesh extremists hung the corpses from lamp posts after the executions.

The development came only two days after Daesh Takfiris abducted 17 civilians in the northern Iraqi city of Shirqat, located some 300 kilometers (190 miles) north of the capital, Baghdad, and took them to an unknown location.

The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by gruesome violence ever since Takfiri Daesh terrorists mounted an offensive in June 2014. The militants have been committing vicious crimes against all ethnic and religious communities in Iraq, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds, Christians.

The Iraqi army together with fighters from the Popular Mobilization units has been engaged in operations to liberate militant-held regions.
