Obama dishonest about fighting Daesh terrorists: Analyst

The United States is funding and providing material support for ISIL directly and then calls it an accident,” said Rodney Martin.

US President Barack Obama’s recent claim that the American military will destroy the Daesh (ISIL) terrorist organization is “hypocritical and intellectually dishonest, an American analyst and radio host in California says.

The United States is funding and providing material support for ISIL directly and then calls it an accident,” said Rodney Martin, who served for a time on the staff of a US congressman.

“ISIL is basically carrying out state-sponsored policies of the United States and Saudi Arabia and Qatar in Iraq and in Syria,” Martin told Press TV on Sunday.

US allies in the Middle East that have propped up ISIL “are some of the most egregious human rights violators on earth,” he added. “Let’s understand that Qatar and Saudi Arabia engage in the exact same horrific actions that ISIL engage.”

Obama said Sunday the Daesh "cannot strike a mortal blow" against the US, and he warned that overreacting to last week’s terrorist attacks in Paris would play into extremists' hands as he tried to reassure a nation on edge.

"We will destroy this terrorist organization," he vowed while speaking on the sidelines of the 27th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

"The American people in the past have confronted some very real, enormous threats. And we beat them. We vanquished them," the US president said. "This will be no different."

ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, have claimed responsibility for the deadly attacks in France.

Daesh now controls parts of Syria and Iraq. They have been engaged in crimes against humanity in the areas under their control.
