Congratulations pour in on Raeisi’s victory in presidential election

Senior foreign officials, prominent figures, and regional resistance leaders offer congratulations to Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi, after early election results declared him as winner of Iran’s 2021 presidential election.

Raeisi received more than 17.8 million out of the 28.6 million votes that have been counted, the Interior Ministry said, based on preliminary results released in Saturday.

The ministry’s election headquarters is expected to announce the final results shortly.

Shortly after the early results were out, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and other senior Iranian officials thanked the Iranian nation for taking part en masse in the election and extended felicitations to the president-elect.

Putin congratulates Raeisi

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin became the first foreign leader to offer congratulations to Raeisi on his victory over three other rivals.

In a message, Putin hailed friendship and good neighborly ties between Iran and Russia, expressing hope that the two nations would keep moving toward closer constructive cooperation on issues of bilateral and international significance.

Syria’s Assad hails Iranians for resisting foreign plots, pressure

For his part, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad congratulated Raeisi on behalf of his nation for “winning the trust” of Iranians and wished for Iran’s continued progress and welfare.

“I wish for your country to move forward on the path of progress and bring about prosperity in all fields for the people, who have withstood all the conspiracies and pressures mean to break their will,” he said.

“I take this opportunity to express my eagerness for closer cooperation in promoting bilateral relations between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Islamic Republic and pursuing common interests,” Assad said.

Iraqi leaders send congratulatory notes

Meanwhile, Iraqi President Barham Salih and Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi felicitated Raeisi on securing an overwhelming majority of the votes cast in the Friday election to become Iran’s new president.

The secretary-general of Iraq’s al-Nujaba resistance movement, Sheikh Akram al-​Ka’abi, send a similar note to the president-elect, expressing hope for closer ties between the two neighboring nations during Raeisi’s term.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi's office said in a statement that the premier had forwarded a congratulatory message to Raeisi, voicing delight over his “gaining the trust of the Iranian people,” and “wishing your Excellency success in your duties and the Iranian people's wellbeing and prosperity."

Kadhimi confirmed “the deep relations” between the nations and “the aspiration to strengthen the joint cooperation in issues of the common interests.” Iraq’s al-Ahad television, meanwhile, published a tweet alleging that the Iraqi official had received an “invitation” from Raeisi to visit the Islamic Republic.

Iraqi Fatah (Conquest) parliamentary coalition that contains many representatives from the Arab country’s anti-terror and resistance groups said the presidential elections served as “clear validation of the political, national, and Islamic credit that the Islamic Republic enjoys within its society.”

President of Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdistan region Nechirvan Barzani also forwarded a message, hoping that the Iranian Judiciary chief’s election as president would “strengthen relations between Erbil and Tehran based on [the principle of] good-neighborliness and common interests.”

Barzani expected “development of the areas of cooperation between the two sides towards realization of security and stability for them both as well as the region.”

Yemen says Iran elections bad news for US-Zionist project

President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat sent a cable to the Iranian president-elect, extending his “warmest congratulations” to both him and the Iranian people, Yemen Press Agency wrote.

“The success of the electoral process in the Islamic Republic of Iran is considered a victory for the principles of the [Iranian] Islamic Revolution and a consolidation of the option to confront the Zionist-American project [targeting the Middle East region],” the agency cited Mashat as saying.

The Yemeni official, meanwhile, hoped for further strengthening of the relations between the countries under the new Iranian chief executive.

Pakistan PM urges closer Iran ties under Raeisi

Pakistan’s Prime Minister also took to Twitter to react to Raeisi’s “landmark” election win, saying he hoped the two nations would broaden neighborly ties under Raeisi.

“Congratulations to Excellency brother Ibrahim Raisi @raisi_com on his landmark victory in the Islamic Republic of Iran’s 13th Presidential elections. Look forward to working with him for further strengthening of our fraternal ties and for regional peace, progress and prosperity,” read his tweet.

Other regional states

Kuwaiti officials, Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah as well as the Persian Gulf state’s prime minister and crown prince, similarly felicitated the victory.

The Kuwaiti emir “expressed sincere congratulations,” wishing Raeisi “further success and wellness as well as for the friendly Islamic Republic to further progress and prosper,” the official Kuwait News Agency wrote.

Dubai’s ruler Mohammed bin Rashid followed suit, extending “his best wishes,” Khaleej Times wrote. "We wish the Islamic Republic and our bilateral relations stability, continuity, and prosperity," read the Emirati official’s message.

Similar messages were forwarded by Azerbaijani and Armenian heads of state, Ilham Aliyev and Armen Sarkissian.

Hezbollah: Greetings to Ebrahim

The Lebanese resistance movement of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah tweeted a combo of pictures showing Raeisi, including one that pictured a meeting between the two.

"Greetings to Ebrahim," read the post’s caption, striking a congratulatory note.

Hamas felicitates Raeisi, Islamic Jihad thanks Iran

The Gaza Strip-based Palestinian resistance movement Hamas also released a statement, cordially felicitating Ayatollah Khamenei and the Iranian people on the occasion of Raeisi’s victory.

The movement congratulated Raeisi on the occasion of “his election by the Iranian people,” and wished him increasing success in his mission of “achieving his people’s dreams of further development, advancement, and flourishment.”

Hamas also hoped that Raeisi’s election would be followed by continuation and reinforcement of Iran’s supportive stance towards Palestine and its just cause.
