The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC)'s Navy pledges to enforce Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei's recent directive concerning the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement on Friday, the IRGC Navy's Command said, "The equations and rules governing the new management of the Persian Gulf have been set, and will be enforced, based on the historic directive" of the Leader.

The statement came a day after Ayatollah Khamenei issued the directive, asserting that foreigners with "ominous" plots targeting the Persian Gulf had no place in the region "except at the bottom of its waters." The Leader also underlined implementation of a "new management" structure regarding the Strait of Hormuz. According to Ayatollah Khamenei, the Islamic Republic "will be the vanguard of the new regional and global order" by continuing to secure the Persian Gulf and ensuring that the country and its fellow littoral states of the region enjoyed progress, comfort, and prosperity in the absence of foreign meddling.

The IRGC Navy's statement noted that it would continue to ensure Iran's sovereign control over the country's 2,000-kilometer (1,242 mile)-long coastline along the body of water.

In line with the Leader's instructions, it added, the Navy "will make this body of water a source of livelihood and strength for the noble people of Iran, and a source of security and prosperity for the region."

Iran shut down the chokepoint to enemies and their allies following the launch on February 28 of the United States' and the Israeli regime's latest bout of unprovoked aggression targeting the Islamic Republic.

It began exercising far stricter controls last month after Donald Trump announced continuation of an illegal blockade of Iranian vessels and ports in continuation of the aggression and in violation of the terms of a ceasefire the US president, himself, had declared earlier.
