Biden poised to send more arms to Israel as Rafah situation worsens

The While House is reportedly moving forward with a new plan to transfer $1 billion in weapons to Israel.

President Joe Biden keeps resisting pressure from the international community to stop arming the savage regime.

Citing three Congressional aides, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Biden administration has notified Congress about the deal on Tuesday.

The new package includes the potential transfer of about $700 million for tank ammunition, $500 million in tactical vehicles and $60 million in mortar rounds, according to the officials.

They said the administration’s notice to lawmakers isn’t the final, formal notification before a sale.

It is not clear when the arms would be sent to Israel.

But according to the Congressional aides, the deal would be an entirely new sale, and that any weapons that are part of it could take years to be delivered.

Antony Blinken also says Israel lacked a "credible plan" to protect some 1.4 million Palestinian civilians in Rafah.

The move comes days after Biden said in an interview with CNN that Washington would further curtail weapons shipments to Israel if the regime broadened its ground offensive to include civilian population centers in the Gaza Strip’s southern city of Rafah.

But after less than a week, the president and his senior officials made clear they will continue military support to Washington’s closest ally in West Asia.

National security spokesman John Kirby said Monday Biden will see to it that “Israel has all of the military means it needs to defend itself against all of its enemies, including Hamas.”

“For him, this is very straightforward: He’s going to continue to provide Israel with all of capabilities it needs.” Kirby said.

Last month, Congress passed a $95 billion foreign aid bill that provides nearly $26 billion in military assistance for Israel.

Biden and administration officials face mounting global pressure to halt arms sales to Israel.

The regime has killed more than 35,230 Palestinians in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
