Mona Kandil started working with Press TV in 2014. Being a journalist, (mainly a TV reporter) in the occupied Palestinian territories is not easy in general, due to Israel’s strict measures and its military checkpoints that prevent freedom of movement and hinder doing the work. Israeli forces attack journalists and arrests them, under the accusation of working with channels run by hostile countries, or continue to incite against Israeli regime.

Many times she had to remove her Press TV’s mic logo, while covering news in Jerusalem al-Quds. She had to hide from the Israeli soldiers the identity of the channel while working in the field, covering demonstrations and clashes. The most difficult is the protests ending up with clashes between the Israeli forces and Palestinian protesters, as the challenge then is to cover a story and return home safe and sound.

She started working when she was 19 years old as a freelance translator with international groups. She worked as a coordinator at the Canadian representative office in Gaza Strip. Prior to Press TV, she worked as a producer and writer for international news agencies and newswires such as Xinhua, DPA and EFE. Kandil worked as a news reporter for KSA English News channel for seven years.

Mona Kandil was born in Lebanon and grew up in Saida city in Lebanon. She also lived in Algeria and Syria before returning to Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. She received a B.A. in English Literature from the al-Quds University.

She lives with her husband and two children in Ramallah.
