The Sudanese Army (SAF) makes its first major advance in 10 months of war with the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), regaining control of part of the key city of Omdurman.

Sudan’s army general and de-facto ruler of Sudan, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has turned down the latest reconciliation efforts with his rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), pledging to carry on a nine-month war with the RSF.

West Darfur state governor has been killed after publicly blaming the deaths of civilians on Sudan’s paramilitary RSF.

The Sudanese Red Crescent says persisting clashes across Sudan has led volunteers to bury 180 bodies without identification.

"The UN was taken by surprise" by the conflict, Secretary-General Guterres said.

Sudan's regular army accuses rivaling RSF paramilitary of attacking the Turkish evacuation plane.

The warring groups in Sudan continued to engage in fierce clashes on Friday with heavy gunfire and explosions heard in the capital Khartoum and other cities despite the proclamation of a 72-hour ceasefire.
