Sirens across Israeli-occupied territories as Iran launches fresh missile barrage

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched a new wave of retaliatory missile strikes against targets deep inside the Israeli-occupied territories on June 8, 2026.

Sirens have rang out across various cities in the central and southern parts of the Israeli-occupied territories after Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched a new wave of retaliatory missile strikes.

Israeli media reported that air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and 187 other locations across the Israeli-occupied territories on Monday as Iran launched a new wave of missile strikes.

According to population estimates, some 5.75 million Israeli settlers will be required to enter shelters as a result of the Iranian missile barrage.

The Israeli military, in a statement, said it detected missile fire originating from Iran, and the missile systems were activated.

Sirens could also be heard in the occupied East al-Quds and the West Bank for incoming missiles.

Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported that 10 missiles were fired from Iran at Zionist settlements in the West Bank, with three buildings "damaged" in the attack.

Footage emerging after the impact showed a large smoke plume rising from a military base marked by barbed wire, separating the facility from a Palestinian settlement, with 'Allahu Akbar' chants audible in the background.

Sirens were activated at the Zikim military base in the Gaza Strip, Israeli media reported.

Israel had earlier reported Iranian missile strikes on various areas of the occupied territories. According to news reports, sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and its surroundings, occupied al-Quds, Beersheba and its surroundings, as well as settlements around Gaza.

Israel’s military has assessed that the exchange of attacks with Iran is likely to continue in the coming days, Israeli media reported on Monday, as the so-called home front command called up reserve and emergency crews and raised the national alert level.

Channel 11 TV reported that the Israeli military’s morning assessment indicated the tit-for-tat strikes with Tehran would probably persist for several additional days.

Army radio said a large-scale mobilization of reserve forces had begun in the early hours, with rescue and emergency teams placed on standby for rapid deployment to potential missile strike sites.

The so-called home front command urged residents of occupied territories to remain near shelters and avoid unnecessary gatherings, according to the reports.

Hospitals declare emergency, move operations underground

Israeli hospitals declared emergency status and began transferring operations to fortified underground facilities, Israeli media reported.

Soroka Medical Center in the Negev region of occupied southern Palestine said it would limit activities to emergency and urgent cases only, reducing other medical services, according to reports.

Hospitals in Safed and Nahariya in the northern occupied territories declared states of emergency, with various medical departments moved to underground and reinforced facilities to prepare for crisis conditions.

Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv also announced it would transfer its departments to underground rooms and spaces resistant to missile attacks, while maintaining emergency admissions.

Israeli authorities have converted underground parking garages into hospital facilities for critical conditions.

‘Iran is a superpower in missiles’

Brigadier General Zvika Haimovich, former commander of Israel’s air defense system, warned that Iran’s military capabilities have been underestimated.

“In the world of rocketry and new aerial threats, the Iranians are a superpower,” Haimovich said in an interview with 103FM radio, according to Israeli news site JFeed.

“Iran has not disappeared from the map; their threat and their desires remain in effect. We hit their capabilities significantly in recent months, but it’s never down to zero,” he said.

Haimovich noted that Iran could launch barrages targeting strategic centers.

In a statement on Monday morning, the IRGC Public Relations Department announced the start of Operation Nasr (Victory) against the Israeli regime’s Tel-Nof and Nevatim airbases.

The IRGC emphasized that all of its combat and operational units are fully prepared to carry out extensive operations on all fronts and have prepared action plans to respond to the enemy’s scenarios.
