A Israeli rights organization has demanded a criminal investigation into the rape of a German journalist and activist who took part in the 2025 Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Adalah Legal Center filed a formal complaint with the Israeli regime, calling for an immediate and thorough criminal probe into the harrowing testimony of the European activist.

The brutal rape of the German journalist occurred at Givon Prison in Ramla, in the heart of the Israeli-occupied territories.

According to the journalist’s testimony, as documented by Adalah, Israeli female prison guards forced her to strip completely naked while male guards watched from behind a curtain.

One of the female guards then sexually assaulted her, as the male guards laughed in mockery.

“During the transfer of our client from the port to Ketziot Prison in the Negev Desert, she and other flotilla participants were subjected to severe physical and verbal violence by Israeli security forces and prison staff,” the statement read.

The abuses included prolonged restraint with plastic handcuffs, blindfolding, screaming, physical attacks, and threats.

The Global Sumud Flotilla set sail in 2025 to deliver desperately needed humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip, in defiance of the criminal Israeli blockade.

Dozens of Global Sumud Flotilla activists detained by the Zionist regime have submitted evidence to the International Criminal Court and other judicial bodies, exposing the systematic abuse, torture, and degrading treatment they endured.

The activists insist that the time has come for the Israeli regime to be held accountable and no longer enjoy impunity for its crimes.

The horrific accounts of rape, torture, and humiliation inflicted on the Global Sumud Flotilla activists by the Israeli occupation forces continue to shock the conscience of the world.

For nearly 18 years, the Israeli regime has imposed a suffocating blockade on Gaza, home to nearly 2.4 million Palestinians.

This siege was further tightened during the war on Gaza as the regime completely closed crossings and blocked food and medicine, deliberately pushing the Palestinian people toward famine.

The Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, launched in October 2023, has so far killed nearly 73,000 Palestinians, wounded over 172,000 others, and destroyed around 90% of the Gaza Strip’s infrastructure, a barbaric campaign fully backed and enabled by the West.
