A series of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon has claimed the lives of at least 12 individuals, with one medic sustaining injuries.
According to Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA), an Israeli attack in the Chehabiyeh area of the Tyre district left one person dead and another injured on Monday.
Additionally, a drone strike targeting a vehicle on the Zefta–Nabatieh road resulted in the driver’s death and wounded a medic who happened to be in the vicinity, the report added.
In the southern town of Braiqaa, two more fatalities occurred due to an Israeli drone strike on their vehicle, and a Syrian citizen was killed in a separate incident near Sheikh Ragheb Harb Hospital in Toul.
Furthermore, NNA reported that five individuals were killed during overnight Israeli airstrikes in Kfar Sir town in southern Lebanon.
A local source noted that another Israeli attack resulted in the deaths of two people in Zebdine.
The developments came as Israeli troops faced additional casualties in southern Lebanon after drone strikes by Hezbollah resulted in the deaths of two soldiers and injuries to several others in just 24 hours, demonstrating the increasing effectiveness of the group's developing aerial strategies.
On Monday, the Israeli occupation army confirmed that a soldier from the Maglan Brigade had died and three others were injured during confrontations in southern Lebanon.
Israeli media outlets reported that the soldier lost his life due to an attack by Hezbollah using a drone loaded with explosives. It was stated that one of the injured soldiers was in serious condition, whereas the other two had more minor injuries.
Additionally, the Israeli military instructed residents of the southern suburbs in Beirut to evacuate as it threatened a fresh wave of airstrikes on the Lebanese capital.
Military spokesman Avichay Adraee urged those living in the southern suburbs to vacate the area "for their own safety".
This evacuation order was issued soon after Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed the military to conduct strikes in Beirut's southern suburbs, claiming that these actions were in retaliation for Hezbollah's "repeated violations" of the ceasefire, which came into effect on April 17.
Hezbollah announced on Monday that its troops continue to engage in combat with Israeli forces close to Beaufort Castle, located in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese resistance movement said in a statement that its fighters were involved in a "war of attrition against the troops of the Israeli enemy army operating in the region. "
On Sunday, Israel declared that it had taken control of the 900-year-old Beaufort Castle and the nearby ridge, expanding its presence in Lebanon beyond the "Yellow Line" demarcation zone.
The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health reports that since March 2, more than 3,400 people have lost their lives due to Israeli attacks throughout the country.
