Israel has intensified its attacks against Palestinians in Gaza since a ceasefire in the US-Israeli war imposed on Iran went into effect five weeks ago, a new report says.

Conflict monitor ACLED, which tracks Israeli attacks in Gaza, said in its monthly April report that Israel carried out 35 percent more strikes last month than in March.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, 120 Palestinians, including eight women and 13 children, were killed in Gaza since a ceasefire was reached between Iran and the US on April 8.

This marked a 20 percent increase compared to the five weeks prior, when Israel was conducting attacks against Iran as part of the unprovoked aggression against the Islamic Republic that began on February 28.

The escalation in Israeli strikes on Gaza comes in violation of the US-brokered ceasefire announced for the besieged territory.

“The war is still ongoing,” said Lafi Al-Najjar, 36, a blind Palestinian whose son was killed in an Israeli attack late last month. “It stopped in the announcement, but in reality and on the ground, the war has not stopped.”

Although a ceasefire has been in place since October 2025, Israel has continued to carry out strikes on the besieged territory and maintain a blockade that has severely restricted the entry of essential supplies and medical equipment.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, approximately 851 Palestinians have been killed and 2,437 wounded since October 11, 2025.

Khalil al-Hayya, a leader of the Hamas resistance movement in Gaza, said Israel’s refusal to fulfil its commitments poses a major obstacle to advancing to the second phase of the ceasefire.

He noted that negotiations have reached a standstill due to the obstinacy of Israeli officials and their refusal to honour the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement.

Al-Hayya stressed that Hamas has long put forward proposals and has honoured its obligations, while Israeli authorities have failed to meet theirs.

He called on US President Donald Trump and the international community to compel Israel to implement the Gaza ceasefire fully.

“We want the cessation of hostilities to hold, the transition to the reconstruction phase, and the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces,” al-Hayya said.
