Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army Major General Amir Hatami says unity between the Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) is a strategic asset for maintaining territorial integrity and stabilizing national security.
In a message on the occasion of the 46th anniversary of the establishment of the IRGC on Wednesday, General Hatami described the multi-service primary force of the Iranian Armed Forces as one of the enduring legacies and “a reminder of the foresight of the great founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini.”
“Since its establishment [on May 5, 1979], particularly during the leadership of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the IRGC has acted as a strong and impenetrable fortress against the threats and conspiracies of the enemies against our homeland,” he stressed.
General Hatami also described the IRGC’s “proud record” as being full of brilliant actions, sacrifices, dedication and significant contributions aimed at safeguarding the achievements of the Islamic Revolution as well as effective presence in various and dangerous defense and security fields.
The IRGC has so far demonstrated constant preparedness to confront hostile actions of the enemies against the Islamic Republic, he further emphasized.
The cohesion and unity among our Iranian Armed Forces, particularly the zealous Army of Iran and the powerful IRGC, along with the solid support of the Iranian nation, under the leadership of Iran’s Commander-in-Chief, Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei, guarantees the protection of Iran’s territorial integrity and national stability, General Hatami stressed.
The powerful role played by the IRGC during eight years of the Iran-Iraq War and the two recent imposed wars – the 12-day war back in June and the one began in late February - involving the United States and the Israeli regime demonstrated the capability, intelligence, and determination of the IRGC’s forces while reaffirming the Islamic Republic’s defensive strength, he added.
The US and the Israeli regime launched their latest bout of unprovoked aggression against the Islamic Republic on February 28.
Iranian Armed Forces responded with over 10 waves of retaliatory strikes, codenamed Operation True Promise 4, launching hundreds of ballistic and hypersonic missiles as well as drone attacks against sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets throughout the region.
