Health Minister calls US-Israeli bombing of Tehran’s Pasteur Institute an ‘international disaster’

On April 2, American and Israeli warplanes deliberately struck the Pasteur Institute of Iran in central Tehran, a 105-year-old biomedical research center and national heritage site.

Iran’s Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi has denounced the criminal US-Israeli airstrike on the historic Pasteur Institute of Tehran as an “international disaster,” exposing the enemy’s frantic campaign to sabotage the Islamic Republic’s scientific sovereignty and self-reliance.

In a statement on Monday, Zafarghandi slammed the barbaric aggression against the century-old center of biomedical excellence, declaring that the deliberate targeting of its virology, bacteriology and parasitology laboratories proves the US-Zionist regime’s fear of Iran’s unstoppable scientific progress.

“The targeting of scientific centers shows that the enemy is directly attacking Iran’s scientific progress and independence,” the minister stressed.

He made it clear that no amount of bombs can erase the knowledge and dedication of Iranian scientists.

Zafarghandi firmly assured the nation:

“The country’s scientific knowledge and capacity will not be destroyed by destroying buildings, because this capital is rooted in the thoughts and efforts of our dedicated scientists.”

Reconstruction is already on a fast track. Sections with limited damage will be completely restored within two to three months, while more heavily damaged areas will be rebuilt as quickly as possible, with full mobilization of the Ministry of Health and the Planning and Budget Organization, and generous support from Iranian donors and the people.

The Pasteur Institute of Iran, a proud symbol of over 100 years of medical advancement and service to the nation and the region, remains undefeated.

Its scientists’ expertise is intact and will continue to drive breakthroughs in public health despite the criminal assault.

This US-Israeli war crime against science and humanity will only strengthen the resolve of the Iranian people and its scientific community to push forward with even greater determination, proving once again that sanctions, bombs and aggression cannot stop the Islamic Republic’s march toward full scientific independence. Reconstruction efforts are moving at full speed.
