Tens of thousands of Iraqis have gathered in major cities to celebrate Iran’s victory over US and Israeli aggression, hours after the United States agreed to Iran’s conditions for a ceasefire.

The largest of the gatherings on Wednesday took place in al-Tahrir Square in Baghdad, where demonstrators expressed support for the Axis of Resistance and marked the agreement as a triumph for their cause.

The crowds waved flags of Iran, Hezbollah, and other resistance groups while holding up portraits of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the martyred leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the martyred leader of Hezbollah, alongside other fallen figures.

The celebrations came after an announcement from US President Donald Trump, who confirmed that the United States had accepted Iran’s 10-point ceasefire proposal.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that most of the contentious issues between the US and Iran had been resolved, and that a two-week ceasefire period would allow for further negotiations.

The agreement marks a key moment in a war that has raged since February 28, when the US and Israel launched an assault on Iran by assassinating several high-ranking Iranian officials, including Ayatollah Khamenei.

Following the ceasefire agreement, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced it would suspend attacks on US and Israeli targets for two weeks.

The heroic efforts of Iraqi resistance groups during the 41-day war stand as a powerful testament to the unbreakable bond between the people of Iraq and Iran.

As the enemy sought to undermine the sovereignty of Iran and disrupt the region's peace, the Iraqi resistance rose to the occasion and stood in solidarity with the Islamic Republic, launching precision strikes against US military installations and Israeli-linked targets in Iraq and beyond.

Their actions were not only a direct defense of Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense, but also a rejection of the foreign imperialist forces that have long sought to control West Asia.

Throughout the terrorist war, the people of Iraq, like their Iranian brothers and sisters, remained steadfast in their commitment to the cause of justice. They demonstrated unparalleled courage, with resistance fighters from various Iraqi groups inflicting significant losses on the enemy.

The support for Iran’s defense during the 41-day war also sparked mass demonstrations in Iraq, where the public showed overwhelming solidarity with Iran, especially during a huge rally in Baghdad.
