Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says the country’s Armed Forces will retaliate for an attack by the United States and the Israeli regime on Bank Sepah, Iran’s oldest bank.

In a statement, Bank Sepah announced that the US and Israeli enemies carried out a missile attack on one of its buildings early Wednesday while its employees were carrying out their duties. It added that technical teams immediately started investigations into the case to settle problems caused by the attack.

In a post on his X account on Wednesday, Araghchi slammed the US and Israel for their attack on another Iranian national infrastructure.

“This time, a branch of my country's oldest bank was bombed while full of employees. They were laboring to ensure Iranians have food on the table ahead of our New Year,” the minister said.

He added that Iran’s “powerful Armed Forces will exact retribution for this crime.”

Also on Wednesday, Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaqari, spokesman for Khatam al Anbiya headquarters, said that with this unlawful and unconventional act in warfare, “the enemy has opened the door for us to target economic centers and banks affiliated with the US and Israel in the region.”

He said the Americans should await Iran’s “retaliatory and painful action.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf warned that the threats by the US and Israel to attack Iran's energy and service infrastructure, aimed at paralyzing daily life in the country, will not go unanswered.

In a post on his X account, Qalibaf said, “Today, our verdict is the rule of 'an eye for an eye', straightforward, without exception… If they start a war on infrastructure, we will undoubtedly target theirs."

“The enemy should know that whatever they do, it will undoubtedly face a proportional and immediate response; no act of aggression will go unanswered,” Qalibaf, a former top military commander, added.
