New Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei

North Korea has extended its congratulations to Iran on the election of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as new Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

“We respect the election of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s Leader,” North Korea’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a congratulatory message on Wednesday.

The spokesperson further expressed “serious concern” over the US-Israeli aggression against Iran, noting that Pyongyang strongly condemns the aggressive actions of Washington and Tel Aviv, which are exacerbating instability around the world.

Iran’s Assembly of Experts, a body of 88 clerics, on Sunday night officially elected Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, 56, as the new and third Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

He is the son of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who was martyred in US-Israeli terrorist attacks on February 28.

Iranian officials, state institutions, armed forces, and people from across the country have pledged allegiance to the new Leader.
