Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have congratulated Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the 47th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
In separate messages delivered on Wednesday, both the monarch and the crown prince commended the Iranian people as they marked the milestone with mass rallies across the country.
King Salman conveyed his sincere congratulations and best wishes for President Pezeshkian’s health and success, and expressed hope for the continued progress and prosperity of the Iranian people.
Bin Salman, who also serves as prime minister, similarly extended his congratulations and expressed hope for Iran’s development and prosperity.
Iranians marked the anniversary of the Revolution with nationwide rallies attended by millions, reaffirming their support for the ideals championed by the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, who led the 1979 uprising that overthrew the US-backed monarchy.
Large crowds gathered in Tehran’s main squares and in public spaces across some 1,400 cities and towns, braving cold weather, rain, and snow in what officials described as a display of national unity amid heightened tensions with the United States and Israel in recent weeks.
