The match, held in Indonesia on Saturday, ended 5-5 after regulation and extra time, sending the game to a penalty shootout. Iran triumphed 5-4 in the shootout to secure the championship.

The Iranian team demonstrated resilience and composure under pressure, turning a deficit into a title-winning performance. 

Goals for Iran were scored by Hossein Tayyibi, Mehdi Karimi (two goals), Saeed Ahmad Abbasi, and Salar Aghapour, highlighting a balanced and dynamic attacking display.

Iran has long dominated the Asian futsal scene, with the latest triumph reinforcing its position as the leading team in the continent. With 13 previous championships, this win adds to the national team’s long-standing excellence in the sport.

Following the victory, Iran’s Ministry of Sports and Youth issued a congratulatory message, celebrating the team’s achievement and the sport’s popularity in the country.

“The Asian Futsal Nations Cup has once again been an honorable stage for our national team, bringing Iran’s futsal to its 14th championship,” the ministry said.

The message also praised the players, technical staff, and management, noting the team’s ability to recover from a challenging position in the final.

“In an exciting final against Indonesia, when we were behind, our team changed the outcome through penalty kicks with a coherent performance and a strong comeback,” it read.

Iran’s continued success in the AFC Futsal Asian Cup reinforces its legacy in the sport, with numerous championship titles, top scorer honors, and best player accolades over the years.

The latest victory adds another milestone to the nation’s storied futsal history and delights fans across the country.
