In another near-daily violation of a ceasefire agreement with Lebanon which went into effect in November 2024, the Israeli military has conducted an airstrike in the southern part of the Arab country, killing at least one person.

Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA), citing the Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Health Ministry, confirmed the fatality on Saturday.

It said an Israeli aerial raid struck a car on the outskirts of the town of Rab Thalathin in the Marjayoun district.

The strike killed the person inside the vehicle, the agency reported, without providing further details.

The development came a day after one person was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the southern Lebanese town of Siddiqin in the Tyre district.

The airstrike hit a vehicle, setting it ablaze, according to the NNA.

Lebanese security sources named the person killed as Mohammad Ahmad Youssef, and identified him as a Hezbollah member from eastern Lebanon.

Also on Friday, the NNA reported that an Israeli drone crashed in southern Lebanon's Marjeyoun district amid intense low-altitude flights by Israeli unmanned aircraft over multiple locations.

Later in the day, the Israeli military said it launched a wave of airstrikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, without providing further details.

In October 2023, Israel initiated strikes against Lebanon, which intensified into a full-blown war by September 2024. This war resulted in the killing of over 4,000 individuals and left around 17,000 others injured.

Ceasefire breaches by Israel have resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of Lebanese citizens.

Meanwhile, Israel remains in control of five hilltops in Lebanon that were taken during the most recent war, alongside other regions it has occupied for many years.
