A senior official from the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement has warned the United States against any act of aggression against Iran, emphasizing that such military adventurism could trigger widespread regional conflict.

Nawaf al-Moussawi, Head of the Borders and Resources file in Hezbollah, said on Wednesday evening that any potential US military action could originate from a miscalculation, but warned it would “trigger a volcano in the region.”

Iran becomes the target of Western colonial powers any time it maintains independence in its decision-making, he said, adding, “Washington has been seeking to topple the political system in Iran ever since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution,” he said.

Moussawi said the United States has pursued the obliteration of the Axis of Resistance by relying on the Israeli regime to bear the brunt of the conflict and pay the necessary blood cost.

Trump wants a deal with Iran or else seeks the downfall of the Islamic establishment, the high-ranking Hezbollah official pointed out.

Moussawi said while Washington could launch a hostile action against Iran, such a strike would not be enough to unseat the Islamic establishment.

“What holds the United States back is its inability to predict the aftermath of the strike,” he stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Moussawi commented on the recent speech by Hezbollah Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem, where he highlighted the serious consequences of any assassination attempt against Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

The senior Hezbollah official said Sheikh Qassem drew attention to the fact that the assassination of any of the religious authorities will entail a heavy price for the perpetrator.

Moussawi stated that Lebanon is currently under US occupation, citing military activities at Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport.

He asserted that US forces are offloading weapons and military equipment at Beirut airport in violation of civil aviation law.

When asked about Hezbollah’s possible involvement in case of a US strike on Iran, Moussawi replied, “We will cross that bridge when we get to it.”

The remarks come amid escalated rhetoric by US President Donald Trump, who recently threatened fresh military aggression against Iran. Washington has just deployed the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and its accompanying strike group to West Asia near Iran.
