Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has instructed officials to publish the names of all those who lost their lives during the recent foreign-backed terrorist riots across the country.
The deputy for Communications and Information at the Presidential Office, Mehdi Tabatabaei, made the announcement in a post on his X account on Wednesday.
“By the president's order, the names and details of all victims of the recent tragic events will be published publicly,” he wrote.
He added that a mechanism has also been devised to accurately review and verify any contradictory information or statements.
The official said the move will be “a clear response to fabrications and data manipulation” regarding the terrorist incidents so that "those who disseminate lies will be disgraced."
Foreign-backed armed rioters and terrorists hijacked peaceful protests over economic grievances on January 8 and 9.
The violence, encouraged openly by the US and the Israeli regime, resulted in extensive damage to public and private property, with widespread destruction of shops, government institutions, public service facilities, and the killing or injuring of thousands of people, including civilians and security forces.
Iranian authorities have confirmed that American and Israeli spy agencies were directly involved, providing funding, training, and media support to rioters and armed terrorists acting on the streets.
In a statement last week, Iran’s Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs said a total of 3,117 people had lost their lives during the riot. It further noted that 2,427 of those killed were innocent civilians and security personnel.
Many of the martyrs were bystanders and protesters who were shot dead by organized terrorist elements, it said.
This is while Western media have launched an extensive campaign to portray a much higher death toll. Tehran has rejected the figures as fake.
