U.S. $1tn military war budget

The US military budget has increased year in, year out for the past decades, reaching 1 trillion dollars. Is that really necessary? With a military budget this high, doesn’t that mean that the US needs to use this budget , which means being in a constant state of war, or some kind of military action? Is it to project power? Or is it to maintain global hegemony? Israel has been the #1 recipient of U.S. military aid. In addition to the $3.7 billion annually, it has received additionally money, especially when it came to the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
