The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas says the ongoing Israeli raids in the West Bank will backfire on the occupation and its settlers.

In a statement on Saturday, Hamas said the continuation of the Israeli regime’s crimes in the West Bank, which follows a two-year genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, will not intimidate the people of Palestine.

“Rather, they will backfire on the occupation and its settlers, whose dream of annexation, displacement, and control over the West Bank will never be realized, regardless of the cost,” it added.

It emphasized that the escalating assaults by the Israeli regime and settlers in the West Bank will fail to break the will and steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land.

The movement reiterated that Israel’s attacks will serve as additional fuel to expand the flames of anger throughout the West Bank in response to the regime’s crimes and aggression.

It called upon the masses of the Palestinian people to continue popular action and confront with full force the Israeli regime’s attacks on the villages and towns of the West Bank.

Israeli incursions and attacks have escalated across the occupied West Bank in recent days, with numerous arrests and assaults reported.

In a post on X on Friday, the United Nations human rights office said more than 1,000 Palestinians have been killed - predominantly by the Israeli military as well as settlers in the West Bank - over the past two years.

It added that the perpetrators used live ammunition on almost two-thirds of Palestinians, with more than a third of Palestinians being shot in the head or the upper body.

"There must be an end to the bloodshed. Annexation in the West Bank needs to be reversed. There must be accountability for all violations of intl. law,” the UN said.

Jenin Battalion says it is fighting Israeli raids in West Bank

The Jenin Battalion of al-Quds Brigades said its fighters have been fighting Israeli forces around the Meithalun Company in the northern West Bank.

“[Our fighters] are confronting the enemy forces invading the town, depending on the circumstances and conditions on the ground, and are targeting military vehicles with explosive devices,” it added.
