Iran wins historic double gold in Asian shooting championships

Iran’s shooting team has made history in the 16th Asian Shooting Championships, clinching both individual and team gold in the 50-meter pistol event for the very first time.

Javad Foroughi delivered a masterclass performance, scoring 554 points to secure Iran’s first-ever gold medal in the 50-meter pistol discipline.

His teammate Amir Johari Kho followed closely with 551 points, earning the silver medal. Vahid Golkhandan, the third Iranian contender, finished fifth with 547 points, rounding out a dominant showing by the national squad.

The trio, Foroughi, Johari Kho, and Golkhandan, combined forces to rack up 1652 points, propelling Team Iran to the top of the podium in the team event.

This marks the first time Iran has claimed gold in this category at the continental level.

India and South Korea took second and third place respectively.

Iran’s delegation has so far amassed an impressive 15 medals across age categories, including two golds, one silver, and three bronzes in the senior division, and one gold, five silvers, and three bronzes in the youth category.
