Nine wound clinics using plasma technology operational across Iran: AEOI head

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has announced the operation of nine wound treatment clinics using cutting-edge plasma technology in the country, including five new centers opened on Sunday.

Currently, there are eight fully functional plasma-equipped wound treatment centers in Tehran and one in Sabzevar, Mohammad Eslami said.

Speaking during a ceremony for the official inauguration of the specialized wound treatment clinic at Rasoul Akram Hospital in Tehran, Eslami highlighted that the field of health and food security is a priority for the AEOI.

“We have planned to utilize nuclear technologies to further expand their applications across various fields and make them available to different sectors,” he added.

Nuclear technology, Eslami said, has many effects “in the fields of medicine, agriculture, industry, and the environment, and we have planned to advance the use of this technology in the mentioned sectors simultaneously.”

According to Eslami, in recent months, more than a thousand patients have benefited from the services of this technology in the field of treating diabetic and cancer wounds.

Cold plasma technology has demonstrated effective and promising results in wound treatment, he said, adding, “we plan to expand its medical applications to make this therapy accessible to all patients.”

He also underlined that nuclear-derived technologies like plasma now extend beyond wound treatment, with applications including industrial wastewater processing, landfill leachate treatment, and detoxification of agricultural products—particularly dried fruits such as pistachios.

“We have implemented these projects in different parts of the country and are now providing services,” he added.

In recent years, Iranian scientists have made remarkable progress in the field of peaceful nuclear technology despite the sanctions imposed by the West.
