As Lebanon marks the 25th anniversary of Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, people call for unity and sovereignty. Apartheid Israel suffered a humiliating defeat in Lebanon on May 24, 2000. Supported by Hezbollah, the Resistance and Liberation Day was established to commemorate the end of occupation.
Addressing the Lebanese people on the occasion, Hezbollah Secretary General said resistance managed to raise the status of Lebanon as an independent nation.
The Islamic Jihad movement also congratulated Hezbollah on the occasion, describing resistance as the only path to preserve dignity and to defeat Israeli occupation.
This episode of Spotlight looks at how the resistance in Lebanon managed to gain such a victory.
