Iranian prodigies among best performers in International Kids Coding Competitions 2024

Iranian prodigies Mohammad Sadegh Razzaz (L) and Golsa Shamsipoor

Iranian prodigies Mohammad Sadegh Razzaz and Golsa Shamsipoor have exhibited laudable displays at the International Kids Coding Competitions (IKCC) 2024 in Romania, and managed to rank among the top at the prestigious tournament.

Razzaz, a student from Mashhad-based Salam Rubi educational center, accumulated 4.40 points in the 7-8 age category of the contests to land in second place.

He stood behind Charlotte Shu Zhu, a participant from Glendal Primary School in Australia’s second-most populous city of Melbourne.

Razzaz reportedly has developed a three-level aviation-themed video game, where the player should fly into space by means of several different aircraft, two of which are dubbed as oxygen and H2O, tackle pollution there, absorb positive energies towards the earth and block out negative vibes.

Shamsipoor, a third grader at Fatemieh Primary School in Iran’s southwestern city of Shahr-e Kord, racked up 4.00 points and finished in the fourth position overall. She was preceded by American contestant Mira Gangadharan with 4.27 points.

The International Kids Coding Competitions (IKCC) 2024 brought together 917 competitors from 786 schools, representing 52 countries.

The tournament is a Scratch coding competition. Kids from all around the world participate in the competition by submitting projects they create in Scratch. The IKCC hosts competitions throughout the year on different topics.
