Jordan’s King Abdullah, Egypt’s Sisi reject any Israeli move to expel Palestinians from Gaza, West Bank

Jordan’s King Abdullah and Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi have firmly rejected any Israeli move to expel Palestinians from the besieged Gaza Strip and occupied West Bank.

Following a meeting in the Egyptian capital Cairo on Wednesday, both leaders “reiterated their complete rejection of all attempts to liquidate the Palestinian issue and forcibly displace Palestinians in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.”

According to a statement released by Jordan's official Petra news agency, King Abdullah reaffirmed his country’s support for Egypt’s firm position against any attempts to displace inhabitants of the war-ravaged Gaza Strip.

Both King Abdullah and Sisi stressed the need “for the whole world to push towards an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and the delivery of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid to alleviate the tragic situation and the suffering of Gazans,” the statement further said.

The leaders also called on the international community to pressure the Israeli regime to agree to an immediate ceasefire and allow enough aid into Gaza in an attempt to ease the “tragic plight” of over two million Palestinians under siege there, it added.

They also emphasized that the international community “shoulders an immense political and ethical responsibility” toward implementing UN resolutions to “maintain the integrity of these international entities.”

The Israeli regime is trying to ‘deport the majority of the civilian population en masse’ as part of its plan to ‘permanently alter’ the composition of Gaza’s population, a UN expert has warned.

King Abdullah and Sisi further stressed the need to counter any attempts to reoccupy parts of Gaza, build so-called buffer zones in the blockaded Palestinian territory or separate it from the West Bank.

The Israeli regime waged the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian Hamas resistance group carried out the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime’s atrocities against Palestinians.

Since the start of the US-backed offensive, the Israeli regime has killed at least 21,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured more than 55,000 others. Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble.

UN figures say around 1.9 million people, 85 percent of Gaza’s population, have been internally displaced in Gaza. The regime’s evacuation orders cover around two-thirds of the strip, limiting the civilian population to less than one-third of the region.  

The Israeli siege of the strip, which has extremely limited the flow of water, food, medicine and fuel to the region, has also caused starvation among the population.
