A prominent Palestinian lawmaker from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), Khalida Jarrar, has been arrested by Israeli occupation forces.

The Israeli forces raided and searched Jarrar's home in the West Bank on Tuesday, arresting the senior member of the Palestine Liberation Organization faction.

Jarrar, who has been arrested numerous times by the Israeli occupation forces, spent several years imprisoned in Israeli jails, most of these years in solitary confinement.

She was set free in 2021 after about 2 years in prison, mostly in unlawful administrative detention.

However, shortly after, due to her affiliation to the PFLP, an Israeli military court charged her with “membership in an illegal organization”, and she was re-incarcerated.

In the last parliamentary elections held in 2006, Jarrar was elected as a member of the Legislative Council.

Reportedly, there are more than 7,000 Palestinians held in Israeli jails. Hundreds of inmates have been incarcerated under unlawful administrative detention, without trial or charge.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces stormed the West Bank city of Al-Bireh at dawn.

Israel regime forces have begun a heavy-handed crackdown on the people in the West Bank since launching its genocidal war in early October on the Palestinians trapped in the Gaza Strip, carrying out large-scale raids in several areas across the occupied territory where new groups of Palestinian resistance fighters have been formed, arresting nearly 5,000 Palestinians residents there.

Also, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed and thousands more injured in the West Bank in the past months by Israeli forces as the Zionist regime intensified its overnight raids and killing sprees, particularly in the cities of Jenin and Nablus in the northern section of the occupied West Bank.

Meanwhile in Gaza, more than 20,600 Palestinians have been killed and many more wounded, most of them women and children, as the brutal Israeli occupation forces war machine continues its onslaught on the defenseless Palestinians.

Israel's Apartheid regime has imposed a “complete siege” on the territory, cutting off fuel, electricity, food, and water to the Palestinians trapped in a human chessboard.

The United Nations has declared that the Israeli war on Gaza plunged the land into a “catastrophic” humanitarian situation.

Gaza's humanitarian aid and relief agencies report a large majority of the 2.3 million people in Gaza - one of the most densely populated areas of the world - have already been displaced after fleeing their homes, and are now crammed in an ever-smaller camp near Egypt’s border.
