Houthi: Armed Forces to target US warships in Red Sea in case of strike on Yemen

The leader of Yemen's Ansarullah resistance movement, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, speaks in a televised speech broadcast live from the Yemeni capital city of Sana’a on December 20, 2023.

The leader of the Yemeni Ansarullah resistance movement says the country’s armed forces will not hesitate to target US military warships in the Red Sea if Washington and its allies carry out military strikes against Yemen.

Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi made the remarks in a televised speech broadcast live from the Yemeni capital city of Sana’a on Wednesday evening.

He underscored that Yemeni forces will start firing cruise missiles at US military vessels should the newly formed maritime task force in the Red Sea take a hostile action or strike Yemen.

The Ansarullah chief also advised member countries of the coalition not to sacrifice their own security at the expense of the Israeli regime’s interests.

“If the United States opts to raise the ante, Yemeni Armed Forces will not stand idly by. They will promptly target American warships, and barrages of missiles will rain down on US military forces and their sensitive sites,” Houthi said.

He further noted that Yemeni forces will continue to target Israeli-owned and Israel-bound ships in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, but added that they will pose no threat to other merchant vessels cruising in the waterway.

“The US is seeking to militarize the Red Sea in order to safeguard the interests of the Zionist enemy. Washington’s measures in support of Zionists will definitely endanger security and stability in the region,” the Ansarullah leader said.

Houthi warned US statesmen against fiendish attempts to test the resolve  of the Yemeni nation in defense of their sovereignty.

US complicit in Israeli crimes against Gaza

The Ansarullah chief also sharply criticized the US for aiding and abetting the Israeli regime in its atrocities against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, saying Washington is complicit in the massacre of Palestinian children and women.

“The Zionist enemy takes pride in its ongoing criminal campaign and [genocidal] war against civilians. The Tel Aviv regime resorts to assaults on unarmed ordinary people anytime it suffers defeats in ground battles.

“Over the past 75 days of Israel's war on Gaza, the regime has perpetrated the most heinous types of crimes. It is targeting Palestinians through all means of genocide, brutally using starvation as a weapon, laying siege to the territory, preventing entry of foodstuff and medicines, and clearly targeting hospitals,” the Ansarullah chief said.

While armies usually designate strategic and military installation as their targets in case of a war, Houthi added, Israel has brazenly declared Gaza hospitals as the prime target of its attacks.

While armies usually designate strategic and military installation as their targets in case of a war, Houthi added, Israel has brazenly declared Gaza hospitals as the prime target of its attacks and has struck medical centers and staff. It also bombed displaced people, who are sheltering in the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) facilities.

In his remarks, Houthi also slammed Washington’s support for Israel, saying, “The US has been definitely complicit in the crimes of the Zionists against Palestinians since the very beginning of the Gaza war, as it has been providing the Israeli enemy with lethal weapons and dozens of military advisors.”

Houthi emphasized that Americans threaten any country that would express solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian nation, arguing they intend to assure Zionists that conditions are ripe for them to press ahead with their brutalities in Gaza without any restraint.

“The US administration represents another face of Zionism. President Joe Biden publicly and openly acknowledges that he is affiliated to the Zionist lobby in Washington.

“The US has been overseeing the Zionist enemy’s genocide in Gaza since day one. It provides Zionists with different types of weapons and financial resources to commit massacres,” the Ansarullah chief said.

Houthi also lashed out at Britain, holding it responsible for war crimes and unrelenting aggression by the Israeli regime against Palestinians ever since the so-called Balfour Declaration, which led to the creation of Israel, was issued on November 2, 1917.

He also slammed certain European Union member states, namely France, Italy and Germany, for their dismal records, generous support for Israel as well as utter disregard of humanitarian and moral values.

“Muslims worldwide bear the responsibility to help Palestinians achieve victory over tyranny,” Houthi said, criticizing some Arab countries for turning a blind eye to the sufferings of Palestinians.

He urged all Arab countries to assist Palestinians with military and financial resources, calling for an unflinching stance in support of the Palestinian cause.

The Ansarullah leader also reiterated the Yemeni nation’s all-out support for Palestinians and their struggle for liberation, condemning certain Arab regimes over serving Israeli interests and shooting down Yemeni drones and missiles aimed the occupied territories.
