Interview with Armita Rezaeinejad

July 23, 12 years ago, motorcycle-borne assailants working for the Israeli spy agency appeared out of nowhere and shot at Dariush Rezainejad six times in Tehran, in front of his wife and daughter.

Thirty-five-year-old Rezainejad was the fourth Iranian nuclear scientist to be assassinated in a span of four years after Ardeshir Hosseinpour on January 15, 2007, Massoud Alimohammadi on January 12, 2010, and Majid Shahriari on November 29, 2010.

Rezainejad's wife, Shohreh Pirani, chased the terrorists and then realized they were shooting at her as well. She ultimately fell to the ground in a wounded state and saw the motorcycle speeding away.

Armita Rezainejad, their daughter, was only four and a half years old at the time. She saw the horror unfold before her eyes. Her small and beautiful world crashed down with six bullets. But she was too little to understand the magnitude of the tragedy. Armita is 16 now and has grown into a thoughtful young woman with remarkable confidence, composure, and poise.
