US military spending

The US House of Representatives has passed the 2024 military spending following heated debate between Republicans and the Democrats in the lower chamber of Congress.

The bill, also known as fiscal 2024 National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, sets policy for the Pentagon and authorizes record $886 billion in spending.

The motion was approved 219-210, NOT from the typical bipartisan support for a bill, but through party lines. The measure includes a pay raise for members of the military, initiatives to counter China and an additional $300 million to support Ukraine. The Republicans also added a number of amendments to the bill.
