Terrorist team linked to Israel disbanded in northwestern Iran, 14 arrested

Iran says 14 members of a terrorist team linked to Israel have been arrested in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan.

Iranian intelligence forces have busted a terrorist team affiliated with Israel in the northwestern province of West Azarbaijan, a judiciary official says.

Ali Abdollahi, head of the judiciary’s intelligence protection organization, said on Monday that 14 members of the terror outfit were detained "as they were seeking to identify and assassinate [various] individuals."

He did not provide further details about the operation and the dismantled group.

Last week, Iran's Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib also announced that a terror team affiliated with the Israeli Mossad spy agency had been arrested in the western part of the country.

Khatib added that the terrorists had sneaked across the border into western Iran from Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

He made clear that Iranian military and security forces will not hesitate to deliver a powerful and crushing response to any destabilizing act against the country’s border regions.
