Iran-China non-oil trade at $5.23bn in January-April
Non-oil trade between Iran and China reached $5.23 billion in January-April this year, according to figures by the Chinese customs office.
The figures cited in a Monday report by Iran’s official IRNA news agency showed that trade between Iran and China had increased by 4% in value terms in January-April compared to the same period last year.
The rise in trade were mostly due to an increase in Chinese exports to Iran, showed the customs figures which indicated that shipments had risen by 46% to $3.71 billion in the four months to April.
Iranian exports to China dropped significantly over the same period mainly because of a drop in international oil prices which affected revenues earned from oil products exports.
The customs figures showed that Iran’s exports to China reached $1.52 billion in January-April, a decline of 39% compared to the same period in 2022.
Iran-China trade in April reached some $1.183 billion, said the report, adding that Chinese exports to Iran had increased by 30% to reach $797 million while imports from Iran fell by 30% to $386 million over the period.
Iranian customs figure show China was Iran’s largest trading partner in the calendar year to late March. The East Asian country imported some $14.584 billion worth of goods from Iran while its exports to Iran reached $15.744 billion over the same period.
