Female Iranian weightlifter grabs two bronze medals in 2023 Asian championships

Female Iranian weightlifter Fatemeh Keshavarz put up an outstanding performance at the 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships in South Korea, picking up two medals in the continental sporting event. 

The Iranian sportswoman pocketed two bronze medals in the 64-kilogram weight category of the contest held at Jinju Arena in South Korea’s southeastern city of Jinju on Monday.

Keshavarz lifted 109 kilograms in her clean and jerk attempt to finish in third place and clinch the bronze medal.

Mongolian athlete Ganzorigiin Anuujin topped the clean and jerk podium with 118 kilograms to grab the gold. Turkmenistan’s Medine Amanowa finished second and won the silver with 117 kilograms.

Overall, Anuujin landed in the first slot with 211 kilograms. Amanowa finished in second place with a total lift of 207 kilograms to win the silver medal.

Keshavarz landed in the third slot and scooped up another bronze with an aggregate of 194 kilograms.

The 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships started in Jinju, South Korea, on May 5, and will conclude on May 13.
