Outsourcing emissions

For years, climate activists have called for urgent action to tackle rising temperatures that have triggered devastating catastrophes all over the world.

But a closer look sheds light on the role played by industrialized nations in world pollution. In simple terms, rich countries are just outsourcing their climate pollution to poorer countries, by shifting their factories overseas. Wealthy OECD nations “consume” a fair bit more CO2 than they actually emit within their own borders.
