A Palestinian teenager has succumbed to the injuries he had suffered during a raid by Israeli military forces on a refugee camp in the northeastern part of the West Bank, amid escalating tensions across the occupied territories.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 17-year-old Mahmoud Majed Mohammad al-Ayedi died on Tuesday after being taken shot in the head by Israeli troops during a raid on al-Far'a refugee camp, located four kilometers (2.4 miles) southwest of Tubas city earlier in the day, Palestine’s official Wafa news agency reported.

The ministry further noted that the occupying regime forces stormed the camp and surrounded a house, triggering violent confrontations with the residents.

Ayedi was critically wounded during the clashes and was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, it added.

Separately on Tuesday, the ministry said a Palestinian youth succumbed to his wounds he had suffered after an Israeli soldier opened fire at him from point-blank range in Masafer Yatta area, south of the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil almost two years ago.

It went on to say that the gunshot wound of 26-year-old Haroun Abu Aram “led to quadriplegia (paralysis from the neck down), and the blockage of his leg arteries, which led to his leg being amputated, and severe ulcers in his leg and pelvis, as well as infections in his lungs.”

Abu Aram was shot in the neck by an Israeli soldier on January 1, 2021, as he was trying to wrangle away an electricity generator belonging to his family that the occupying regime forces were trying to confiscate.

The incident was filmed and shared widely online, causing an international outcry. He had been suffering from serious health complications over the past two years since being shot.

His family home had also been demolished by Israeli military forces a month before the shooting.

The latest deaths bring the total number of Palestinians killed by Israeli troops since the beginning of the year 2023 to 50 people, including 11 children and a woman.

Over the past months, Israel has ramped up attacks on Palestinian towns and cities throughout the occupied territories. As a result of these attacks, dozens of Palestinians have lost their lives and many others have been arrested. Most of the raids have focused on Nablus and Jenin, where Israeli forces have been trying to stifle a growing Palestinian resistance in the occupied cities.

The United Nations marked 2022 as the deadliest year for Palestinians in the West Bank in 16 years.

Israeli forces killed at least 171 Palestinians in the West Bank and occupied East al-Quds last year, including more than 30 children. At least 9,000 others were injured as well.
