Jordan slams Israel

Jordan has summoned Israel’s ambassador after the regime’s forces prevented the Arab country’s envoy from entering Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied al-Quds. In a statement, the Jordanian foreign ministry said it handed the Israeli envoy a strongly-worded letter of protest to be delivered immediately to the regime. In the letter, Jordan has underscored its official custodian status of Christian and Muslim holy places in al-Quds, including Al-Aqsa. A ministry spokesman said, Israel, as an occupying power, must adhere to its obligations under international law toward the occupied city and its sanctities. Israeli forces on Tuesday blocked the Jordanian envoy’s entry to the mosque and asked him to show permission. Israel’s new far-right cabinet, under Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu, has been stirring up tensions at Al-Aqsa. The regime’s forces regularly assault Palestinian worshipers and help settlers storm the mosque compound.
