In Group D, world champions France have recovered from an slow start to register a comfortable 4-1 victory over Australia and kick off the defence of their title in style.
The holders fell behind to a 9th minute goal by Craig Goodwin, who smashed a great low cross into the roof of the net.
But inspired by the unstoppable Kylian Mbappe, France came back hard, and 2 goals in 5 minutes, from Adrien Rabiot and Olivier Giroud, gave them a half-time lead.
Things were slow early into second half. However, just after the hour, France exploded again to kill off the contest. Another quick-fire, this time by Mbappe and Giroud underlined the extent of their superiority.
Giroud’s brace moved him level with Thierry Henry as Les Bleus' all-time top scorer.
